The Paris Syndrome characterises a severe form of culture shock that mainly affects Japanese tourists travelling to Paris. They usually fail to bridge the gap between their expectations about Paris, built from tourism brochures, and the reality they encounter during their actual visit to Paris.
There is a similar phenomenon in Japan. Actual Japanese reality can be very different from what visitors expect. During the amazing time I had while living in Japan, I came across numerous strange places which, to me, are as fascinating as what one would usually expect from a journey throughout Japan. This series is an inventory of many of these spots and perhaps an invitation to visit Japan for its queer incarnations.
