In Japanese, "Sado, Chado" is the Tea Ceremony. The tradition has long been mystified by the West, where it is seen as a symbol of refinement, manner, and serenity of Japanese culture. Japan is also said to be one of the most advanced postmodern societies. First-time visitors are often struck by how clean the streets are, how well groomed up salarymen look, and how organised city life appears to be. But behind this perfectionist façade sometimes lies a less polished reality. I am exploring this other side of Japan.
